Sharing a message that matters
Simone now visits schools across Melbourne, speaking to primary and secondary students about road safety and making safe choices.
Her approach is simple and honest. She shares her story in a way young people can understand and connect with.
“I feel I can connect with the students, and I make them laugh. I just like to get out there because I feel I have an important message to tell.”
— Simone
Her presentation brings the message to life. Using a simple seatbelt demonstration, Simone shows students what can happen in a crash and why wearing a seatbelt matters.
Over the years, Simone has spoken at more than 60 schools. It all started when a former teacher invited her back to speak to students. From there, word spread, and her work has continued to grow.
Helping young people think differently
Simone hopes her story helps young people pause and think about their choices.
“We talk about concentrating when you’re driving, wearing your seatbelt, and the things that can distract you like loud music or your phone,” she says.
Her message is clear: small decisions can have big consequences.
But it’s not just about fear or risk. Simone also brings warmth, humour and relatability into every session, helping students feel comfortable and engaged.
Support to live the life she chooses
Simone is a customer of Each’s NDIS Support Coordination service.
Through this support, she’s able to live her day-to-day life — from getting to concerts to organising support at home — while continuing her work with schools and sharing her story with more young people.
Looking ahead
Simone isn’t slowing down. She wants to keep visiting schools, meeting students and sharing her message with as many people as possible.
She wants to keep getting out there and sharing what she’s learned — because she knows she has an important message.
